Windows Genuine Advantage
Windows Genuine Advantage is a free software by Microsoft, which install automatically while updating our version of Windows. Its task is checking whether our copy of Windows is legal or not. I wouldn’t discuss reasonableness of this program because Microsoft also offers us a possibility to uninstall this relatively unnecessary software, which is easier than its installing.
Here is what we have to do if we want our copy of WGA off our system:

Here is what we have to do if we want our copy of WGA off our system:
- Start Windows XP in Safe Mode
- Delete WgaTray.exe in folder c:\Windows\System32
- Start/Run and start RegEdit.
- Find the lcation HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify
- Delete the entire folder ‘WgaLogon’
- Restart Windows
Let’s say that this uninstalling confirms the rule LESS IS MORE. The entire procedure is also described on webpage http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;921914 .
